Perfect Safety Record

The Iowa Mountaineers, Inc., and the Ebert's [S. John and Jim Ebert] have maintained a perfect 61-year safety record. Jim maintains a perfect 37 year guiding safety record involving over 62,100 people; with no fatalities, no injuries, and with no one sustaining even a sprained ankle. Jim credits his reliance on God for keeping everyone injury free. The Iowa Mountaineers glorious history, involving over 78,000 people who had traveled to 17 Alpine countries and ascended over 1300 of the world's most challenging mountains without a single fatality ended in 1996 when the Club's Active Voting Membership placed the Iowa Mountaineers, Inc. into an In Active State to commemorate S. John Ebert, the Club's founder, who passed away at age 89.
